Sponsored Content Policy

How paid material is separated from editorial coverage and processed through the site's advertising review workflows.

Policy details

Draft — pending legal review

Draft updated: 06 October 2026. This date records the content update, not legal approval or a statutory effective date.

Identification

Paid material must be identified as Advertisement, Sponsored, Paid Content or Partner Content as appropriate, not disguised as independent reporting. The VMN ad-delivery response carries the label Advertisement; the page integrating that response must preserve clear identification. A booking on this institutional site alone does not mean an external VMN template has displayed the material.

Review and claims

Paid creatives use the print or digital advertising review process. Supply rights permissions and evidence supporting claims, and disclose material sponsorship relationships relevant to the submission. Staff may seek corrections or reject unsuitable material. Payment does not bypass editorial, commercial or any required legal review.

Independence and records

Sponsorship grants no entitlement to favourable coverage, editorial approval, headline control or suppression of legitimate reporting. Creative versions, reviews, campaign dates and payment references are retained as operational records. A recorded payment or generated invoice is not proof of publication or endorsement of the advertiser's claims.
