Staff sessions and page state
Staff authentication uses persistent browser storage to maintain a sign-in session. Application page data can also be held temporarily in browser memory. These functions are distinct from advertising cookies; not all browser storage is a cookie. Clearing site storage can sign staff out and require authentication again.
Third-party requests
Pages request fonts from Google Fonts. The payment page loads Razorpay's checkout script when you start an eligible payment; that service may use its own cookies or storage according to its notice. Following social-media, VMNNews.com or advertiser links exposes you to those sites' separate storage practices. Visitors in consent-required regions get a cookie banner for the Meta Pixel (see below); this notice does not certify the storage behaviour of hosting or third-party scripts.
Ad measurements and diagnostics
Where VMN ad endpoints are integrated, impressions and clicks are deduplicated with a daily hashed identifier derived from connection IP and user-agent, along with campaign, date and desktop/mobile category. That measurement does not require a tracking cookie in the endpoint implementation, but it still processes connection information. Error-reporting hooks, when available, capture error details and page paths. The site does not promise that all visits are free of hosting diagnostics or provider telemetry.
Meta Pixel (advertising measurement)
To measure visits from our Facebook and Instagram ads, the site loads the Meta Pixel operated by Meta Platforms. It records the pages viewed (including E-Paper page views), browser and device information, IP address and Meta cookies (_fbp/_fbc), and shares them with Meta for ad measurement and delivery of our ads. Visitors in the EEA, UK, Switzerland or an unidentified region are asked first through a cookie banner and can accept, reject or change their choice later via "Cookie settings"; the choice, its time, the notice version and region are kept in browser storage. Elsewhere the pixel loads by default; you can block it with browser settings or ad-tracking controls. No names, emails or phone numbers are sent to Meta.
Reader visit counter
On the E-Paper, subscription and payment pages the site stores a random reader number in your browser ("jpd_reader_id") and records it with the page, the arriving campaign tags or referring site, and whether the device is a phone or computer. It does not record your IP address or name. If you later submit a subscription from the same browser, that number is saved with your subscription so authorised staff can see which pages led to it. Clearing browser storage removes the number.
Your controls
Use browser settings to review and remove cookies/site storage or restrict third-party requests. These choices may affect sign-in, fonts or checkout. For questions about data used in measurements or diagnostics, contact the Grievance Officer through the Privacy Policy contact; there is no site-provided universal tracking opt-out control at present.
